Sustainable Practices For a Sustainable Future
We are connected to the producers at a personal level. Carlos, Biarte’s founder, spent his childhood and teen years at Finca Santo Tomas Perido in Atitlan, Guatemala with his family. At the farm, his parents were always pushing the boundaries of sustainable practices coming with new and innovative farming methods.
Biarte carries the same values of sustainability and transparency to our operation and that of our allied farmers. We look to be the leaders of sustainability from the source to our customers and that is why we maintain close contact with the producers.
Today, Carlos’s younger brothers, Jorge and Javier are in Guatemala and continue to implement and innovate on sustainable practices.
Private Natural Reserve
350 hectares of forest, the natural source of water and biodiversity.
Tropical Flower Honey
More than three thousand hives located throughout the farm.
Hydroelectric power production from natural water sources.
Financial sustainability for producers is another important metric we focus on. Commodity prices are not sustainable for farmers. We make sure that our producer partners receive a good price that covers their costs of production and also allows farmers and their families to transform their lives and their communities for the better.
